Customers can choose to receive medical expense remuneration sent to Thai Health Insurance Company in various ways as follows;

In case of outpatients, you can ask to receive cash at Thai Health Insurance within 30 minutes.

Thai Health Insurance sends a cheque by registered mail to customers who live in Bangkok and its vicinity and sends a draft to customers who live up-country.

Thai Health Insurance transfer money to customers’ accounts.
     
Medical Services

How do you know which hospital is in the Thai Health Insurance network?
A:
 
The insurers can inquire from the staff at the hospital. Also if you notice a Thai Health Insurance sticker attached in the hospital this means it is in the network. Alternatively, you can call for information at the Medical Section, at 0 2642 3100 ext. 500-510.
 
2. Q:
 
How can I use network hospital services and what benefits will I get?
A:
 
The insurers need to bring with them their Thai Health Insurance card every time when receiving medical services. If your insurance card does not have a photo of you attached, you need to bring along an official card issued by a government body. You must inform the hospital staff that you wish to use your Thai Health Insurance card. You will receive optimal service from network hospital and healthcare facilities. Regarding medical expenses, you do not need to pay when such expenses are under the coverage and protection of the insurance.

If a problem occurs regarding services at hospital, what should I do?

If the insurers encounter problems from their hospital visits such as a network hospital refusing their Thai Health Insurance, please inquire the cause of such rejection and call to report this to the Medical Section at 0 2642 3100 ext. 600, 630
 
4. Q:
 
Can I use health services from other hospitals, which are not networked?
A:
 
In case of visiting other hospitals, which are not within Thai Health Insurance’s network providers and health facilities, you need to pay for medical expenses first and send the receipt to the Thai Health Insurance Company for subsequent reimbursement.
     

Membership

1. Q:
 
What should I do if I lose my Thai Health Insurance card? When will I get a new one?
A:

Individual Insurance  The insurers need to send a copy of the police report and pay a 30 Baht fee. You will receive your new Thai Health Insurance card within 5 working days.

Group Insurance The insurers need to send a copy of the police report or a letter from the Personnel Department regarding the lost card. For group insurance, you do not need to pay a fee for a new card. You will receive your new Thai Health Insurance card within 5 working days.
 
2. Q:
 
Regarding specification of age for insurance purposes, how is this calculated? For example I may be 44 years and 9 months old but my individual insurance may identify me as 45 years old.
A:
 
The calculation was based on month of birth. If the current age of an insural person is greater than six month, The individual insurance may identity as 1 year.

Thai Health Insurance Co., Ltd. is an affiliate of the Thai Life Insurance Co., Ltd. It has been operating since 1979. We are financially stable with supporting from the Thai Life Insurance Co., Ltd. We have a claim history system as well as a claim system, which is undertaken in a short period. There are more than 270 network hospitals and healthcare providers throughout the country. It is estimated that by 2005 there will be 300 network hospitals and healthcare providers which is more than any other insurance company in Thailand.

Compensation
1. Q:
 
When I have health insurance, what am I entitled to?
A:
 
A request for reimbursement can be made if the insured person has been treated for an injury or illness by conventional doctors under the coverage of the insurance for such ailments as colds, diarrhea, bronchitis, heart diseases, high blood pressure, kidney diseases, diabetes and other conditions.
 
2. Q:
 
If I already have other insurance as well as my Social Insurance, what benefits would there be?
A:

You will get more benefits. For example, if you get 1,000 Baht per one-night hospital stay from another insurance company, you will get an additional 1,000 Baht per one-night hospital stay from Thai Health Insurance. In total you will get 2,000 Baht per one-night hospital stay. Other benefits will be increased in the same way.

If you present both insurance cards at the hospital and state your wish to use the Social Insurance card first, whatever benefits that are beyond the Social Insurance coverage will be covered by Thai Health Insurance. As another example, you can ask to transfer from the room provided by Social Insurance to a better room. The extra expense will be covered by Thai Health Insurance.
 
3. Q:
 
Within the same year, can I ask for reimbursement for the costs resulting from the same illness several times?
A:
 
Thai Health Insurance will pay up to the maximum benefit stipulated in the plan and will stop paying for a particular illness. That exceeds the maximum benefit.
 
4. Q:
 
Nowadays there are a number of medical treatments such as acupuncture, accupressure, aromatherapy and so on. What is the insurance protection regarding theses treatments?
